To stop or not to stop

Law quiz

We are going to present several situation. You the referee are going to decide if you are going to blow your whistle or not. If you are going to blow your whistle you are going to decide what the next phase of play will be - scrum, free kick or penalty.

We suggest answers which should all be available in the laws any way.

The match being played is between the Ortembox and the Argy Wonders at Estadio Cupro Sud in Tucumán.

1. Mario Igwasue of the Argy Wonders is to throw in at a line-out. The Argy Wonders have three players in the line-out and Agustín Pampers to receive the ball. The Ortembox have three men in the line-out and nobody to receive the ball. Bakkies Karton of the Ortembox wins the ball in the line-out.

2. Time is up when wing Bryan Koffern dives over to score a try to win the match. After he has scored Koffern leaps up and punches Juan-Hernández Larmer, the Argy Wonders fullback.

3. Centre Lisandro Andies opf ther Argy Wonders breaks with left-wing José-Maria Rio-Plater of the Argy Wonders outside of him. Andies passes to Rio-Plater and stays on his inside just behind him. Percy Kyst, the Ortembox fullback, covers but cannot get to Rio-Plater because Andies is in the way.

4. De Wet Tellieset of the Ortembox breaks. He has Jean de Gift outside him but Lisandro Andies of the Argy Wonders in between them and running back towards his own goal-line. He passes to De Gift but Andies reaches out and knocks the ball down towards his own goal-line where Ignacio Gowchow, the Argy Wonders fullback, gathers the ball.

6. Felipe Barrerlotchie, the Argy Wonders flyhalf, kicks off high down the middle of the field. In side his 22 Percy Kyst, the Ortembox fullback, catches the ball cleanly and calls mark. As he stands there Pablo Iffaffa, the Argy Wonders No.8, tackles Kyst.

7. Felipe Barrerlotchie, the Argy Wonders flyhalf, drops out. He is about four metres behind the 22-metre line. John Buxis, the Ortembox hooker, jumps across the line to charge the kick down. He charges the kick down about two metres over the 22-metre line.

8. Lisandro Andies of the Argy Wonders breaks clean through. After a run of 25 metres Bryan Koffern of the Ortembox tackles him from behind. As Andies goes to ground he pushes the ball back some three metres where De Wet Tellieset, the Ortembox centre who is falling back, picks up the ball.

9. From a line-out Felipe Barrerlotchie kicks the ball. Schalk Trunk, the Ortembox flank, goes to charge the ball down. The ball strikes his hands and goes forward towards the Argy Wonders goal-line.

10. From a line-out Felipe Barrerlotchie kicks the ball. Schalk Trunk, the Ortembox flank, goes to charge the ball down. The ball strikes his hands and goes back off his hands to where the line-out was. Lucas Paraná, the Argy Wonders flank, reaches up and catches the ball.
