Spencer - a room with a French viewIt has emerged that Northampton's New Zealand fly-half Carlos Spencer could be on his way to French Top 14 side Agen.
This news comes just days after Northampton signed London Irish fly-half Barry Everitt on a three year deal.
Radio Northampton reported that Spencer held talks with big spending Agen about a possible move that would see him link up with the likes of Pepito Elhorga, former Auckland Blues team-mate Rupeni Caucauinbuca and fellow former All Black Kees Meeuws.
The mercurial fly-half still has a year to run on his current deal at Franklins Gardens but with the Saints in a relegation battle he could be ready to leave.
If Northampton were to be relegated they would have to slash their wage bill considerably, with Spencer being their top earner.
Agen have reportedly offered Spencer a contract, although Saints chairman Keith Barwell is adamant that Spencer will not be leaving Northampton before his contract expires.
Spencer, who won 35 caps for the All Blacks, joined Northampton in 2005 and has made 48 appearances for the Saints and scored nine tries.
