The 29-year-old - a World Cup Bok in 2003 - joined London Irish in October 2005, making 27 appearances since his arrival.

"This is a very significant re-signing for the club," said Brian Smith, London Irish's Director of Rugby.

"Since coming to England, Danie has enhanced his reputation as a world-class hooker.

"The partnerships he has forged with our props - Faan Rautenbach, who has also re-signed, Tonga Lea'aetoa, Richard Skuse and Neal Hatley have given us what is arguably one of the most dominant front rows in the Premiership. We're delighted that he has signed for another two seasons."

Smith added, however: "We are currently looking for a quality replacement for Neal Hatley, who will be retiring at the end of the season, as we want to maintain our push to be one of the most comprehensive packs in European club rugby."

London Irish are rumoured to have made quite a few moves contract and player-wise over the past few weeks, and have confirmed they will be announcing details of further re-signings and new signings over the coming weeks.
