North Harbour Stadium not giving up

'Harbour Stadium doesn't have the problems Eden Park has' - O'ConnorNorth Harbour Stadium chiefs have not yet given up hope of hosting the Final of the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
With Eden Park subject to major planning decisions this week, the North Shore city venue has leaked plans of a new arena, a smaller version of Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
North Harbour Stadium chief executive Brendon O'Connor believes any tangled red tape in the Eden Park project would open up an opportunity for his arena to capitalise.
"It would seem sensible to me to put equal effort into developing opportunities at North Harbour Stadium - we don't have the problems Eden Park has," O'Connor told the New Zealand Herald.
"Then the Government could make an informed decision against rational criteria as to which is the best option for 2011 and beyond."
Eden Park's managing board hear the results of planning inquiries later this week.
