The event is organised by CONSUR - the Confederation of South American Rugby.

The countries taking part are Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

For the first time, South America's men and women will be playing in the same event and the two days will also be immediately followed by the International Seven-a-Side Clubs Tournament, organised by the Old Mackayans RFC at Mackay School.

Both the men's and women's tournaments will begin with pool matches across two pools. The matches will be played at Mackay School, men's and women's matches alternating. The last match is scheduled to finish at midnight on the opening day. Argentina will defend their men's title, Brazil the women's.
